The past 23 years

Just heard the song "Graduation" from Vitamine C on the radio. And I was brought back to my prom night in July'99 in the ballroom of Shangri La when I had my prom night when I was 16.

7 years on, I'm a finance professional running the rat race. And in 7 months, I'm a girl about to exchange singlehood for married blis.

How time has flown by.

If I knew my life was going to turn out this way at 16, would I had lived my life differently? Would I have made the choices I did back then?

Anyway, the date is set, 4th Aug at the InterContinental Hotel Singapore. We are happy that everything is finally falling into place. In a span of a month, we've finalised the house, the wedding venue and the bridal shop. Now all we both got to do is to turn up! We're almost there!

Of course I have fantatic friends who have enthusiastically voluneered their services. Thank You! I need all the help I can get, so I can delegate all the work out for me to enjoy my big day! =)

Oh, bonus is declared on Monday. This is going to determine if I'm going to be wearing Prada/Gucci or Giordano for the rest of the year! *cross fingers*

Accountable Singlehood

It's been a long time since I'm this stoned on a Sunday morning. Thanks Jess for the really cool party last night. It's been ages since I have a house party where I actually drank so much. I can safely say that it was the first time I had ba chou mee at 5am on Sunday morning.

Jess's housemate's friend asked me whether all us girls were from the same school, and I was like yea. Can you believe that 8 years after leaving MG, we are all still making an effort to meet up? It's a fantastic feeling when you know you can count on some people dispite not talking to them on a regular basis, but just pick up from where you last were. It's a comforting feeling to be around old friends, to joke and jeer without any inhibitation that the other would feel insulted. And even if any offence was taken, I bet there will be no recollection once the sober morning comes.

Even though we're at different junctures at our lives, it's nice to share our how different our lives have become, or reminice on old times. Thanks babes for always being there, love you all! Send me pics if you have!

Hung's away for a week, but from now till March, he'll be travelling. He travels so much everywhere that I've just grouped the world in Singapore and non-Singapore. I'm out for partying next Friday night, who's coming?!

On a brighter note, we have got a place to stay, we are going to be on Lonie Hill, at the back of Orchard Boulavard. I'm excited, but the rent is ridiculous, it's more than what my take home is a month, but Hung is bent on getting it. I'll officially move in after Aug, but I'll probably have an engagement party there after we are settled in.

We have also found another place to accomodate our small party of people! The Intercontinental Singapore has offered us a special package and I am so excited! The Grand Ballroom is really the nicest hotel in Singapore by far! I can see it in my head... I'm going to get my fairytale wedding!

All I need next is to strike 4D or Toto. Perfect.

Grumpy

Been grumpy for the past 2 days, not sure if I'm PMSing or cause I have to go back to work on Monday, but I have been very irritable.

Hung has been giving me some bogus numbers for his side on the wedding guest list, and after I actually bugged him for all the names, our total wedding guest list is only like 210 people, short of 150 since Oriental Ballroom needs a minimum of 35 tables of 10. I want to drop on the floor and die. Argh! Common, could it be so hard as to properly count the number of people invited?!!

I'm obviously irritated, and it did not help that I spent the whole week negiotiating and finalising the contract for Oriental, and now, I am short of 150 people! Hung knows I'm grumpy, and he's optimistic that we'll find a solution, but unless it starts raining relatives, I hardly think we are going to have an easy solution.

And to top it off, he dragged me to the SSO concert this evening. I'm lucky I'm only tone deaf and do not snore because if not, the concert hall would be listening to me melodic snoring. I admit it, I don't appreciate music. I hung up my violin when I was 9 and never picked it up again. I can't differentiate between an A or C, or Mozart or Bethoven. I was so freaking bored, I fell asleep.

I'm not one happy tropper.

My leave is ending, and I don't think I can take leave any time soon, with this stupid project on the line. So I'm dead.

I have a good idea to scrape the whole wedding banquet and scoot off to Bali to get married.

The week was also spent looking at apartments. Rental rates at the Carribean have sky rocketed and from paying $2.2k, his landlord is now asking for $3.8k. Isn't that just so crazy! Is it me or has Singapore land suddenly shunk that it's become so valuable psf? And this all started after the St Regis came up earlier this year. And all the hype for a 99 year lease hold apartment! ARGH.

I don't have a wedding venue, We don't have a place to stay come Feb, and I got to go back to work on Monday.

Damn it! The whole world is crashing! Not a good start to 2007 man. I'm obviously in a very pissy mood.

Hello 2007

It's all the same, we start the new year with all sorts of ideals and inclinations of all things good, a mental list of things we would like to accomplish the coming year. Looking back on 2006, there are a few that happened this year that I never intended or planned to happen:

1. I lost 10kg over the whole year. Don't ask how, it just happened!
2. I survived the corporate world and now am number 2 senior in my department. Of course this is all due to all other more senior people quitting.
3. I found the love of my life.

And in case you've haven't heard, I'm getting married!

#3 is probably going to be the main focus of 2007. 7 more months till I walk down the asle, and nothing is yet planned! I'm going to be organised, to be super anal, and to make this the perfect year ever! To do this, these are the things I plan to accomplish in 2007:

1. Catch up with all my friends before July. After that, I'm a married woman! Hung would be first in line for the lychee in my martinee... sorry Addy Babby!
2. Successfully plan all logistics for the wedding. Around 40 of Hung's family is flying in from Paris, USA and Vietnam, so logistic wise, it already sounds like a headache!
3. Eat all 9 courses of my wedding dinner. Stop saying it's impossible, ces't tres possible and I will!
4. Be the best girlfriend and life partner ever. That means being more patient, less PMSy, and more mature!
5. Spend less money. Guess that new Gucci bag would have to wait.
6. Get my own pad!

Thanks Viv for hosting the perfect countdown for 2007. I couldn't ask for more. I'm tired of fighting with the whole Singapore so a small party with close friends was the best I could ever ask for! Great way to end 2006 and an even better way to start 2007.

Love you guys! Cheers to 2007!
